JACT is an evolving, grass roots, community action
organization. It is a non-profit, non-political, non-affiliated
corporation. Its members are volunteer citizen/advocates. JACT members
are individuals who have proactively worked for the benefit of the
community for some time. JACT is funded exclusively by these
volunteer/members. There are no "sponsors" apart from the working
members themselves.
JACT was formed as a direct response to the unacceptable level of
vandalism within the community. This is a recurrent problem faced by
many other communities throughout the U.S. today. Unfortunately, most
acts of vandalism go unreported. As a result, the problem continues to
escalate. The quality of life of the citizens is diminished. Business
investment slows. Economic growth is halted. Homeowners flee
to more attractive communities.
It is a fact: Socio-economic growth is impossible when crime rates
escalate. It is every bit as certain as is the Law of Gravity. JACT
has just begun working with the Police Department to increase the
number of Neighborhood Watch Programs throughout the city.
The objectives of JACT, as stated in Article II of the Indiana
Articles of Incorporation For a Nonprofit Corporation, are to:
- Promote security
- Improve parks
- Promote pet welfare
- Promote economic development
- Promote anti-crime education
Finally, government is a business. It is also a fiduciary (trust)
relationship between the elected representatives, its citizens and the
community. The function of the government is to implement policies
conducive to economic growth while enhancing the quality of life of
its citizens. It is the responsibility of the citizens themselves to
actively implement these goals as a natural part of their daily lives.
